I am proud to be part of this compilation of artists who have contributed tracks to We Love the Cellar; an exclusive fund raising album to aid the The Cellar's viability and to assist with their ongoing improvements.
You can purchase this CD from Band Camp.
I contributed two tracks, from my Spectral Streams and Carreg Ddu Projects
Spectral Streams – Paradise Garden
This track Is my homage to the wonderful synth sounds that you can find as the backdrop over which Steve Hillage soars with his iconic guitar. The inspiration for this track was Steve Hillage’s seminal 1979 album, Rainbow Dome Musick and the Garden of Paradise Track. I have always loved the swirling, ambient synth backgrounds that Steve Hillage and Miguette Giraudy created on this track. It took me ages to figure out how they got them, and once I had figured it out I had to use them in a track! So, Paradise Garden is very much a homage to one of my heroes.
Carreg Ddu – Nienor
Nienor is a central character in JRR Tolkien’s “the Children of Hurin” Eldar Days tale, which has appeared in many guises over the years. It is a quite a dark tale overall, but the segment presented here (part of a much largersuite encompassing the whole tale) is quite positive and uplifting and about Nienor’s sojourn in Brethil after being rescued by Turambar.
This is part of a much larger song that I need to get around to completing
